News from the Farm…
Dear Friends,
We are endlessly humbled, inspired and grateful to be in community with farmers, organizers, retailers and CSA members who are working tirelessly to envision, manifest and/or support just & sustainable food systems.
Our friend Rowen White, a Seed Keeper from the Mohawk community of Akwesasne, now based on her seed sanctuary farm in Northern CA, has been doing the ancient and vital work of seed saving since her days at Hampshire College in the late 90’s.
In this keynote address from the 2018 Northeast Organic Farmers Association Conference, Rowen shares stories of the rematriation of seeds, where seeds come back to their communities of origin, and encourages people of all backgrounds to reconnect with their ancient food ways.
Curious about Rowen’s work? Check out the website of her seed stewardship organization, Sierra Seeds or listen to this episode of the Emergence Magazine Podcast, Reseeding the Food System.
